Is your career stalled? Stagnant? Off track? Or just plain wrong? Consider career counseling – with an experienced professional who knows and understands the workplace and its complexities.

Working Life Design is the career counseling and coaching practice of Ken Lawson, M.A., Ed.M., a New York professional with firsthand experience in many different sectors of the workplace. As a career counselor for more than fifteen years, he has helped hundreds of career-minded individuals redirect, revive or reinvent their work lives.

What the practice focuses on, and who it’s for

Working Life Design is a practice devoted to addressing and resolving career challenges. Areas of focus include (but are not limited to) career change, job search and career advancement. The counseling process seeks to help clients clarify career goals, develop plans for pursuing and achieving them, and bring work and personal life into a sustainable balance.

Clients come from a variety of backgrounds and professional levels. What they have in common is a desire to advance, succeed and realize their career potential.

How the counseling process works

Working Life Design builds the counseling process around individuals. Each client brings a different career situation, history and ambition. How the counseling work unfolds, how long it takes and what it includes are determined by a collaboration and agreement between counselor and client.

“Extremely helpful in bringing clarity and direction to my change of career.”
